Stata is a popular statistical package among social science researchers. A large
collection of user-written commands for data manipulation, statistics and graphics
makes it an attractive tool as well. In this workshop the instructor will include, but is
not limited to, understanding the interface, reading ASCII text data into Stata (e.g., txt
or csv files), using data editor for data entry, exploring the dataset, modifying data (e.g.,
rename or recode variables), managing data (e.g., label variables and variable values),
reshaping the dataset, and creating basic graphs in Stata. A lab session will be held
during the second half of the workshop.
